Ada Bobonis

Ada Bobonis is a native of Rio Piedras and currently lives and works in San Juan, Puerto Rico where she is a member of the faculty at the Escuela de Artes Plásticas. She graduated in 1989 from the Universidad de Barcelona in Spain where she majored in painting. Bobonis has exhibited her work in Europe, Puerto Rico, and the United States. She is a recipient of a Pollock-Krasner Fellowship (2005-06) and participated in the artist-in-residence program of the Santa Fe Art Institute, New Mexico (2006): and in the Space Program of the Marie Walsh Sharpe Foundation in Brooklyn, New York (2010-11). In 2009, she participated in the Second Biennial of the Canary Islands: Architecture, Land, and Landscape. Some of her more recent projects are “Ñew York “at the OAS: Art Museum of the Americas, Washington, DC (2012), Stages, Mountains and Water” at the Queens Museum of Art, NY(2012). She has also been nominated for the Rema Hort Mann Foundation Grant, NY (2013), and the Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation Grant, Miami (2013).
