TRUTH & RECONCILIATION: A Group Exhibition / Resident Open Studios

TRUTH & RECONCILIATION: A Group Exhibition & Resident Open Studios
September 27 / 5:30PM—7:30PM

Curated by Toni L. Gentilli, SFAI Residency Director

As our 2018-2019 thematic residency draws to a close, SFAI has assembled a multimedia exhibition of 13 artists in residence exploring notions of truth and the potential for reconciliation. The exhibiting artists come from diverse backgrounds representing South Africa, Colombia, Sri Lanka, Japan, and the United States as well as four sovereign Indigenous nations: Colville, Chiricahua Apache, Diné, and Taos Pueblo.Their works bring into view more nuanced recollections of the complicated histories related to these places and encourage fuller comprehension of truths that have been systematically omitted or repressed. By allocating space and giving new form to these narratives, the artists confront incomplete, biased, and damaging stories of the past in service of healing the present and reimagining our future. This exhibit is made possible by an NEA Artworks Grant.
Take a look at our Truth & Reconciliation Residency page for more information about the artists and their work.

Selected works by the following artists are for sale at the exhibition:
RYAN! Feddersen
Gina Gwen Palacios
