In Place: Future Artifacts and Remembrance on El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro

We are delighted to team up with SciArt Santa Fe, STEAM NM, and UNM College of Fine Arts to host the exhibition In Place at the SFAI Gallery.

Through concept drawings, 3D visualization, mapping, robotics, and sculpture, the participating artists envision a new way of interpreting our cultural landscape by highlighting regional and statewide efforts to recognize and to create more inspiring and relevant monuments with a diverse and inclusive set of values. Artists include SFAI Story Maps Fellow Heidi Brandow, Angel Cabrales, Chico MacMurtrie, UNM faculty members Kate Boles, Francisco Uviña, and architecture students.

Virtual Public Conversations

There will also be a related series of public conversations, livestreamed on YouTube and Zoom, “SciArt Santa Fe LASERs” that encourage dialogue on the relationship of art and science to monuments and historic representation through the lens of land use, colonization, climate change, extractive industries, and community.
