Sara Konrath

Dr. Sara Konrath is an expert on the science of empathy, compassion, and kindness. A social psychologist, she directs the Interdisciplinary Program on Empathy and Altruism Research (iPEARlab.org). Her recent research has found that empathy has been declining and narcissism has been rising over time among American young adults. Other research has focused how empathy and narcissism are associated with health and well-being. In her current work, she has developed mobile phone-based empathy-building programs. Her research has been published in top scientific journals and is regularly featured in top media outlets, including the New York Times, Time Magazine, and NPR radio. She is an Associate Professor at the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy.
