Sarah McCormick

Sarah McCormick (b. 1987) is an interdisciplinary artist and educator born and raised in the Northwoods of Michigan. Working predominantly in social practice, digital media, and sculptural installation, her research considers the role of colonial agendas at play in the narrative of our global, ecological crisis.

McCormick holds a BFA in Sculpture from the University of Arkansas and an MFA in Sculpture and Post-Studio Practice from the University of Colorado Boulder. She has been teaching undergraduate fine arts courses in Colorado since 2017 and currently lives and works in the Denver metro area. She was published in Sculpture magazine in 2015 as a recipient of the Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Award from the International Sculpture Center, became a fellow of NEST Studio for the Arts in 2020, and partnered with History Colorado in 2020 as a co-author of the RISE Colorado state grant. She has been working with a community of land grant heirs in the San Luis Valley since 2019 in ongoing creative facilitation of their fight for ancestral land and efforts to archive local history.
