Sarah E. Jenkins

Sarah E. Jenkins (she/they) is a queer Appalachian artist from Blandburg, Pennsylvania. They create experimental stop motion animation, social practice, and site responsive work about coal and natural resource extraction, post-industrial landscapes, and unseen labors. Their work has been exhibited and screened at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, ICA Boston, Wheaton College, The Lesbian and Gay Association in Germany, Torrance Art Museum, and GRRL HAUS Cinema. Jenkins teaches experimental animation at SMFA at Tufts University, Massachusetts College of Art & Design, and Harvard University. Her recent residencies include MacDowell, the Sitka Center for Art & Ecology, and Marble House Project. Their work is included in the forthcoming book Queering Appalachia’s Visual History: A Collection of Queer Appalachian Photographers from University of Kentucky Press. She resides in Boston, MA with her darling cat, Nessie.
