Sachiko Cooper da Silva is a multimedia artist whose material focus is primarily in painting and printmaking. Her work deals with sociological issues surrounding climate, post industrialization and the entanglement of the human and the natural world. She grew up in Chimayo, New Mexico, engaging in different forms of textile creation which became incorporated into her process. Weaving offers a complex relationship to space and object, there are denser nodes of connectivity and spaces where things unravel. While attending Bennington College, her studies focused on the intersection of sociology, psychology and art, experience and environment. Her work now deals with these dynamics and how they are represented in the interconnectivity of human and nature through the act of weaving itself.
