Angelos Tsaousis
With a postgraduate degree on Communication Studies (Leeds, UK) and a specialisation on documentary filmmaking, Angelos Tsaousis (b. 1981) has thirteen years experience on the audiovisual sector. In 2011 took the decision to focus mainly on producing/directing creative documentaries with an international potential and expanding his knowledge by participating at the first edition of Emerging Producers IDFF Jihlava. His main objective is to explore the potential of documentary form as a social impact tool. The New Plastic Road (co-production with ZDF/Arte, supported by MEDIA Development Fund and Greek Film Centre, developed at EURODOC, pitched at EDN, EBU IDFA, MIPDoc Cannes and StoryDoc) is his first feature length film that explores the socioeconomic changes in the destitute communities of Pamirs, Tajikistan. With the support of the Fulbright Artist Scholarship (2016/2017) and his affiliation with the San Francisco Film Society as a Filmhouse resident (2017/2018), he developed his current project Far.Go.Bots on Roma youth and social integration (developed at UNIONDOCS, NY and pitched at IDW Visions du reel & ESODOC). Understanding the societal change and the power of storytelling, Angelos as fellow of “START – Create Cultural Change” (2017/2018 // a program of the Robert Bosch Stiftung, conducted in cooperation with the Goethe Institut Thessaloniki and the German Association of Sociocultural Centers, supported by the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation and the Bodossaki Foundation) Angelos is spearheading DocRepublic – a documentary hub where digital storytellers and public dialogue will be inspired.
