Rocio Saenz
Chihuahua, Chih. México 1971. Rocio Saenz studied the Maestría en Arte, Artes Plásticas specialty in the ISA, Havana, Cuba. Her work has been exposed individually and collectively in both a national and international level (Europe, USA). She has received plenty of aknowledgements, from which are highlighted the Beca Jóvenes Creadores of FONCA in the emission of 2003-2004; in 2006 she obtains the first award “Luna, una expresión artística” organized by the Auditorio Nacional, the Secretaría de Cultura del DF, UNAM, México, DF y Primer Premio del Salón de Octubre, Guadajalara. She receives the grant Winner of the 2006/2007 VSC MexAm Fellowship. In 2009 she wins of the Acquisition Awards by the V Bienal de Pintura Chihuahuense and, in that same year, she is selected by the artist Jannis Kounellis to participate in a workshop organized by the Marcelino Botín Foundation in Santander, Spain. In the year of 2010 she wins the first place in the II Bienal de Pintura Pedro Coronel. In 2012 y 2014 she is selected for the Bienal Monterrey FEMSA in its X y XI edition. In 2014 Santa Fe Art Institute selects her project and grants her a residency in the Ciudad de Santa Fe, Nuevo Mexico, In 2015 she is selected to expose in the project A fterbirth in Inglaterra and that same year, she participates in the event of Open Studio in Madrid, Spain.
