Michelle Negrette

Michelle Negrette is an architect, community planner, landscape designer and interdisciplinary artist living in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is interested in art as interruption and how unexpected interventions can change the perception of the daily landscape, challenging an individuals experience in a known space. Her work concentrates on the built environment, its cultural context and navigates the spaces in between revealing the unseen. She manipulates found objects and interjects the unexpected to begin a narrative between space and the perception of place. Aspects of her work include architecture, poetry, structure, photography, sculpture and ephemeral media. Michelle is a co- founder of Strata Design in Albuquerque, New Mexico and enjoys working with communities throughout New Mexico to engage in an deeper understanding of place. Michelle is a graduate of the University of Southern California, the University of New Mexico and studied photography at Speos in Paris, France.
