Emily Neufeld
Vancouver-based artist Emily Neufeld’s practice revolves around domestic spaces and place, and explores the link between a person’s identity and their location. Emily grew up on the Canadian prairies in a family that was in the home building business, so her way of looking at homes is based on an understanding of what is behind the walls, and a curiosity about the renovations that may have occurred in a space and the reasons for it. She uses homes slated for demolition as starting points for her art and performs interventions in the space that act as continuations of the evidence of daily life of previous residents of the homes.
