Caitlin Morrison

Caitlin Wakara Morrison is a mixed Teme-Augama Anishnabai/settler artist, Maang doodem (Loon clan), from Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

As an artist, Caitlin is constantly learning new techniques and developing new ways to work with traditional and contemporary materials. Her bodies of work are explorations and expressions of her identity, exposure to other landscapes and cultures, and issues encountered as part of her work in land claim negotiations. She is first and foremost a self-taught artist but has received formal training in the fine arts and traditional Indigenous art forms.

Caitlin holds a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in Indigenous Studies from Trent University and a Specialization in Indigenous Environmental Studies. For the past 8 years, she has worked for the Ontario Ministry of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation, representing the province in various land claim negotiations with First Nations across Ontario.

Caitlin currently lives and works in Treaty 20 Territory (Peterborough, ON) and frequently travels back north to Temagami and Temiskaming Shores to recharge, find creative inspiration, and reconnect with her family, community and Homeland.
