They have authored several books, lecture internationally on art and social change, and are founders of the Yes Lab, an educational organization devoted to training next-generation activists. Their next film, The Yes Men Are Revolting, will be released in 2014.
About Yes Labs
The Yes Lab is a series of brainstorms and trainings to help activist groups carry out media-getting creative actions, focused on their own campaign goals. It’s a way for social justice organizations to take advantage of all that the Yes Men have learned-not only about their own ways of doing things, but those we’ve come in contact with over the decade and half they’ve been doing this sort of thing. The Yes Lab has offices and workshopping space at NYU’s Hemispheric Institute in New York.In this workshop, the Yes Men Andy Bichlbaum and Mike Bonanno will lead a series of brainstorms to develop fun, funny, and enjoyably risky ways to get mainstream news coverage for issues important to you. At the end of the workshop, you’ll be able to pursue your own creative direct action with assistance from the Action Switchboard, the Yes Men’s new, human-facilitated platform for action planning and coordination.
Over the years, the Yes Men have discovered that important issues can be delivered to mainstream America by adding large dollops of laughter. Eager to give away all their secrets, the Yes Men have spent most of the last few years helping activist groups and individuals carry out low-budget actions, many of which have resulted in substantial news coverage.
