Elizabeth Block

Elizabeth is the author of A Gesture Through Time and Celluloid Salutations, and several short films. She has traveled widely with her works. VOX 3 saught her novel for feature film development. Elizabeth has received numerous awards and fellowships, including a Doris Roberts/William Goyen fiction fellowship from the Christopher Isherwood Foundation, Djerassi Resident Artists Program, etc. She wrote/directed/produced a one-act play, “Exposing We,” and adapted/directed Elizabeth Swados’ “The Runways” for Theater in the Round. Elizabeth wrote a new foreword to the Signet Classics edition of St. Augustine’s Confessions. Elizabeth has screened her films at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, MadCat International Women’s Film Festival, Athens International Film Festival, Antimatter Film Festival, Anthology Film Archives, Harvard Film Archives, Museum of Contemporary Art | Denver, San Francisco Cinematheque, etc. Canyon Cinema distributes two 16mm films. Elizabeth wrote spec scripts for TRANSPARENT, and THE AFFAIR. Block received M.F.A. degrees in filmmaking and writing from California College of the Arts. She received her M.A. in anthropology from UCSC and her B.A., high honors, in anthropology, from the University of Michigan. She studied theater at Northwestern University. She has done television script coverage in LA. Elizabeth worked as script supervisor for the feature, LOST IN THE MIDDLE, starring Guinevere Turner (AMERICAN PSYCHO, GO FISH). She is currently working on narrative screenplays and a semi-autobiographical memoir.
