Related Tactics
Related Tactics (Michele Carlson, Weston Teruya, and Nate Watson) is an artist collective creating work together as a collaborative unit, exploring the connections between art, movements for social justice, and the public through trans-disciplinary exchanges, collective making, and dialog. The three have worked together since 2015 to create projects that proactively and specifically address the impacts of systemic racism and white supremacy and create spaces for mutual support and transformation.
Related Tactics projects have been presented by Corning Museum of Glass, Wexner Center for the Arts, The Luminary, University of San Francisco Thacher Gallery, Berkeley Art Center, ICA San Jose, Museum of Capitalism at the Kellen Gallery of Parsons School of Design, Center for Craft, and Southern Exposure; with an upcoming exhibition at Houston Center for Contemporary Craft. They have been supported through a Rainin Arts Fellowship, Craft Research Fund Artist Fellowship, Kala Art Institute’s Print Public, a CoLAB residency project with the Lucas Artists Program of Montalvo Arts Center, a residency with The Luminary, and grants from the San Francisco Arts Commission and Ruth Foundation for the Arts. Their creative publication project, Shelf Life, was published and distributed by Sming Sming Books and their critical writing has been published in the Brooklyn Rail, The Hopkins Review, and New Glass Review.
