Doza Mendoza

Doza is an artist honoring their deep history of Indigenous knowledge and Spanish cattle ranching ancestry in New Mexico. They work in a variety of mediums including film, poetry, music, storytelling, sculpture, dance, and the combination of art forms. Their professional background anchors in communication as a pathway of connection, including facilitating difficult conversations, intimacy coordinating for film and television, and filmmaking as a founder of Ditch The Box Studios. Academically, Doza focused on the importance of cultural representation in media (Stanford University, BA Film and Media Studies/ BA Communication) as well as the psychological and societal impacts of emerging communication technologies (University of Southern California, MA Communication Management). Combining their expertise in research, communication, media representation, and community activism, Doza makes art to reflect the power and presence of representing the roots of ancestral stories.

“We are the trajectory of our untold stories, and honoring this reality allows us to intentionally shift the paradigm while building upon the progress of transcestral acts of revolution.” – Katrina Alejandra Mont’ros Men”doza”
