Georgina Lightning @ SFAI: Screening of Fantasies of Flying

Join us for an exclusive preview screening of Georgina Lightning’s new film, Fantasies of Flying. Georgina Lightning is an accomplished First Nations film director, screenwriter, and actress. Come and view a screening of the rough cut, followed by an open discussion with Lightning on the many themes of her film, including suicide and suicide prevention, trauma, and various forms of healing. Lightning is seeking constructive feedback for the second edit of the film with regards to content and structure. This promises to be an exciting gathering of Native American artists, filmmakers, policy makers, healers, and members of the broader SFAI community.

Georgina Lightning 

Georgina Lightning is an award-winning Native American film director, screenwriter, and actress. Lightning was born in Edmonton, Canada and is a Plains Cree. Among her many accomplishments, Lightning directed, wrote, and starred in the supernatural suspense film, Older Than America. In doing so, she became the first female North American Aboriginal director of a globally distributed feature-length film, and a recipient of the White House Project Emerging Artists EPIC Award.
