OVERVIEW
The Santa Fe Art Institute (SFAI) is a long-standing and valued member of the Santa Fe non-profit community, supporting 50-70 artists and creative practitioners annually through residency and fellowship programs. We also host public events that encourage critical inquiry and cultural exchange between artists and the community.

We are seeking an initiative-taking individual with skilled emotional intelligence to join our organization, which is dedicated to addressing complex social and relational issues through the arts. Our focus areas include the rights of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, LGBTQ+, people with disabilities, immigrants, and women.

The Facility and Art Installation Manager is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and well- maintained operation of SFAI’s facilities. This role supports staff, artists, and the public by managing daily operations, coordinating vendors, and preparing spaces for art exhibitions, events, and artist residencies.

Key Facilities and Installation Responsibilities

  • Oversee building systems and equipment and manage vendors, contracts and budgets
    • Perform light repairs and maintenance (painting, wall repairs, snow removal, grease traps)
    • Ensure safety, cleanliness, and accessibility, including waste management
    • Maintain facility vehicles and bicycles
    • Maintain records of expenditures, contracts, and maintenance
    • Respond promptly to facility emergencies
    • Scheduling annual inspections (i.e. fire, security, equipment maintenance)
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to create and manage the annual facilities budget
  • Prepare spaces for programs and workshops, including AV setup
  • Oversee facility planning and maintenance/repair/capital project schedule and project management
  • Assist with art exhibition/event setup and light art handling
  • Onsite support for events, rentals, and special projects as needed
  • Attend staff meetings

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 5+ years’ experience managing commercial or institutional facilities
  • Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and safety systems
  • Strong communication, organization, and vendor management skills
  • Experience with maintenance scheduling, budgeting, and emergency response planning and management
  • Ability to perform light repairs
  • Strong people skills to meet and interact with new people regularly.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Strong writing skills, the ability to read and evaluate proposals, and a basic understanding of contracts.
  • High level of accountability, follow-through, task prioritization, and ownership of work.
  • A reliable personal cell phone and personal transportation.
  • Proficiency with computers and mobile technology.
  • Experience with various software and cloud applications, including MS Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 per week, on-call for emergencies.

  • This position is expected to work not more than 24 hours per week. However, work schedules for all of the SFAI staff will require change as organizational needs arise.
