Transatlantic Rising Stars: Works from the Residency (Closing Reception)

This spring, Santa Fe Art Institute (SFAI) and the Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA) are serving as the Santa Fe hosts of the inaugural Transatlantic Rising Stars Project (TRSP), a groundbreaking pilot program of the European Union Delegation to the United States. This year’s residency pairs Amsterdam-based Spanish artist Jorge Mañes Rubio with Hollis Chitto (Choctaw and Laguna Pueblo), an IAIA-affiliated artist, both bringing a shared engagement with beadwork to their distinct creative practices.

Over eight weeks of shared studio practice, cultural exchange, and artmaking, Jorge Mañes Rubio and Hollis Chitto created work in deep collaboration and reciprocity. This exhibition is your chance to experience that work before they join fellow inaugural TRSP artists from host sites across the country for an international group exhibition in Washington, D.C. this June.
