SFAI Design Workshop: Engage, Think, Build

SFAI is pleased to present its inaugural Design Workshop for local high school aged youth. At its core, this six-week design/build summer intensive will explore the question of how we can work collaboratively to change the world. Participants will become acquainted with a local organization that has a clearly identified need, and will experience how their own creativity and critical thinking can play a vital role in providing tangible solutions. SFAI Design Workshop will expose participants to the design studio, and to fundamental concepts of design thinking such as empathy, discovery, interpretation, and experimentation. SFAI Design Workshop will run from June 9 through July 17, 2014, Mondays through Thursdays, from 9 am to 4 pm. We encourage local youth currently in 10^th and 11^th grade, as well as highly motivated 9^th graders, to apply. No prior design or construction experience is required. We are looking for passion, guts, creative energy, and commitment. Cost for the entire program is $1775. Financial aid will be awarded based on need, and applicants must be able to attend the workshop in its entirety.
