Peripheral Shelters is a week of creative action bringing together artists and community organizations to ask questions about shelter, hope, trust, and system failure within Santa Fe. Presented as part of the Santa Fe Art Institute’s Story Maps Fellowship— in which four artists were paired with local organizations for nine months of dialogue and collaboration —these events seek to center the work being done in our peripheries and the people whose lived experiences are pushed to the margins in this city.

2019 Story Maps Fellows

The 2019 Story Maps Fellows

Ehren Kee Natay
Sara Daniele Rivera
Scarlett Cortez
Hazel Batrezchavez

Story Maps Fellows will present their work throughout this week in dialogue with the organizations who have shared their stories with us and alongside other local artists who are integrating radical storytelling and questioning into their work. We invite community members to consider with us the questions that unite Santa Fe organizations doing the work of social justice. We believe that questions (questions without clear answers, without singular, linear answers) can be used to map the common ground between people, groups, and institutions.

Events will include workshops, pop-up exhibitions, installations, and performances at the Santa Fe Dreamers Project, YouthWorks, and the Santa Fe Art Institute.
