A generation ago the piñon juniper forests around Santa Fe, Los Alamos and beyond looked very different than they do today. The shocking, massive die-off of piñon pines that took place over twenty years ago is seldom spoken of today. In a rapidly changing world, how can remembering the forests of the past help us to steward the forests of the present? In this contemplative walk we will follow a trail where many trees died. We will make offerings, discuss the process of bearing witness, share stories, with time for silence, meditation, individual reflection, and discussion. Together we will form a community of care while deepening our relationship with the trees.
