SFAI is invested in the question of how a cultural organization can cultivate creative practices (from fine art to design to urban planning and beyond), engage with diverse communities and address the most pressing social issues of our time.

SFAI is also invested in the question of how to create meaningful pedagogical tools from the work of our thematic Artists in Residence beyond their temporal presence. Because 8th grade is a known and critical predictor of high school success, SFAI has chosen to focus there, through the curricular lens of creativity as a driver of social change.

PROJECT 8: FOOD JUSTICE is in development to provide 8th grade public educators with a contemporary, multi-disciplinary resource on the social, cultural, and economic challenges inherent within our food system.
