Join us on February 25, 2015 for our first CONVERSATIONS @ SFAI with TODD LOPEZ & ANDREA REYNOSA.
CONVERSATIONS @ SFAI is a series of critical conversations on complex topics that have local interest, national relevance, and connect with SFAI’s innovative thematic programming. Join us as we launch a new series of participatory discussions around creativity, critical engagement, education, and social justice.
CONVERSATIONS @ SFAI brings together internationally known artists and designers with gifted members of our local community to speak on issues that are both diverse in nature and locally relevant.
ANDREA REYNOSA is the co-founder of Smack Mellon in Brooklyn, a center for arts education, creation, and exhibitions. Andrea has devoted herself to farming and programs that interact with the environment, community and family. Her most recent large scale project resulted in an acre of sweet red clover being planted under the DUMBO overpass in New York City.
TODD LOPEZ is the director of Siete del Norte, a non-profit dedicated to improving the economic well-being and quality of life for low-income residents of northern New Mexico, with a particular focus on sustainable agriculture. Additionally, Todd founded the Hunter Arts and Agricultural Center in Española. Hunter Arts will house the Northern New Mexico Food Hub, the Española Community Market Co-Op, and the Moving Arts: Española Arts Training Center. The center will provide economic development and technical support to farmers for the aggregation and distribution of locally grown food.
CONVERSATIONS @ SFAI begin at 7 pm. Presenters speak for about thirty minutes each, followed by an open discussion with members of the audience. This is followed by a short reception and a chance to visit the studios of SFAI residents. We are located on the SFUAD campus at 1600 St Michaels Dr, Santa Fe, New Mexico.
