Janet Chan

Janet Chan is a multidisciplinary artist/scholar in criminology, policing, technology studies and creativity. She is a professor at UNSW Law and leader of the Data Justice stream in the Allens Hub for Technology, Law & Innovation. She holds both science and arts degreesfrom University of Toronto, a PhD from Sydney University and an MFA from UNSW College of Fine Arts. Her experimental art practice has explored issues of surveillance and control through technology. Janet’s work at SFAI has focused on reconciling freedom and constraints in personal history and intergenerational connections.
