Clothesline05 - Exploring the Role of Clothing in the Contemporary Arts

The 2005 season of lectures, studio workshops and exhibitions offered broad based, interdisciplinary programs focusing on the visual arts and other disciplines in the exploration of clothing and its function as metaphor or surrogate, either revealing or concealing identity. The list of visiting artists and writers explored performance, installation, painting, sculpture, photography and video, as well as the underlying principals of camouflage.

Charles LeDray
Sculptor. Charles LeDray is known for making miniature men's suits that are marvels of meticulous craftsmanship and poetic symbols of male identity.

Two Girls Working

Performance Artists. Martha Wilson is Founding Director of the Franklin Furnace Archive, Inc., which presents and preserves temporal art. GGBB is the interactive activist wing of the Guerrilla Girls, utilizing the potential of new media to increase activism and involvement. Two Girls Working position themselves as assets to civic action and dialogue.
