Gabe Gomez, Residency Director

Gabe was born and raised in El Paso, TX and studied creative writing at the College of Santa Fe and Saint Mary's College of California. His first collection of poems, "The Outer Bands" is the winner of the 2006 Andres Montoya Poetry Prize from University of Notre Dame Press in conjunction with Center for Latino Studies and Momotombo Press. His first play, "V as in Victor" was produced at the Santa Fe Playhouse in February 2007. He has taught English at the University of New Orleans, Tulane University, Institute for American Indian Arts, and the College of Santa Fe. In addition to his responsibilities at the SFAI, Gabe is the music columnist for the Santa Fe Reporter.
